Ok, yes, I am still playing catch up. These past few should have been posted a month ago!
We will leave this mainly photos.
3. Annaka's gift from us was a bike! She loves it! This was her first ride....
I asked the Lord to teach me through the process of becoming a mom. Maybe I did not realize what exactly I was asking...but here is my journey...my pilgrimage.

Baked goods in Asia are, well, different than what we are used to from the states. We have some friends who are from here, but have spent some time in London and appreciate the sweets, quiche and other baked goods from the west. The husband has now given me the nickname "criminal" because he is trying to loose some kg s but still wants the goodies. He is a heart surgeon so I told him I am only trying to help his business:)
This nickname came especially after the Christmas season.
I was invited into Annaka's classroom to make gingerbread houses with all 30 kids, 7 teachers and 2 helpers. Leftovers went to....you guessed it, our friends (the husband may be a surgeon, but the wife is Annaka's head teacher and naturally inherits classroom leftovers).

Whoa am I thankful that I have some mommy friends who set me straight before I make a huge mistake....most of the time.
Annaka's school was having a 'Fancy Dress' party. Just as I begin to think through what she should wear...."Maybe I can get some fun fabric and make her a dress/skirt or something" a mom leans over and asks me if I want to come with her to look at costumes. A little confused I asked her what she was looking for to which she answers "I signed my daughter up to be a pilot".
I stopped in my tracks long enough to ask questions and found out "Fancy Dress" just means she dresses up out of the ordinary as some prescribed thing/person. It was Helper Day and we needed to sign up our kiddos to dress up as a community helper. There was even a list we had to pick from. I had waited too long and only had a few to choose from.

Happy birthday to my Mom! (Better known as Grandma these days) :)
God has truly blessed me with a wonderful Mom.
I am realizing this more and more each day.
I realize now the many sacrifices you have made for us, the unconditional love you have given to us, and what an amazing woman you are.
Thank you, we love you and Happy Birthday!!!

Lord,
Thank you so much for the blessings you allow us to experience in our lifetime. The beginning of October is a special time as we celebrate the birthday of my Grandmother Dorothy.

Our community is in full holiday swing. Nine nights of celebration beginning with worship to a 'deity' and then hours of dancing around. During holiday season our friends like to dress up in new colorful outfits.
Most schools have religious worship inter-twined with daily activities. That was one reason it was difficult for us to find the right school. We were directed to one that does not involve the religious side of the holidays which gives us an opportunity to help Annaka see they are having a 'special time' but she also knows that we do not celebrate it.
Rather than a celebration for the current holiday the class dressed up and had a dance party the last 30 minutes of class. (No idols present, only fancy dresses and crazy2-4 year olds dancing about the room)
Annaka borrowed an outfit from a friend, I french braided her hair and we were off.

Why is it that people tend to not talk about deep matters. It is almost as if we have a book of 'appropriate' answers and comments we are allowed to say to one another.
Why is it when we have a bad day or when we are hurting or struggling we stay silent. Sometimes we need to talk about it. Not only to 'get it out' or to get through it, but to allow others to see the power and strength of the Lord. He allows us to experience these struggles not because we are strong or we can 'handle' it....but because He is strong. Because it is His strength He is glorified.
I am guilty as charged on this matter. Just look at my blog.....photos and daily events. Hmmm, how does this document my 'pilgrimage to motherhood'?
Maybe I am saying that I will post more about the reality of what I am thinking about or doing for the day....even if it does not involve a cute picture of our little three year old....even if it means something that I need help with....even if it means something I am struggling with. Yes, some days it will still just be a picture and a cute story.
